The Ministry of Health has said that cases would be filed immediately against those found guilty of maintaining environments conducive for the breeding of mosquitoes.
Community Specialist of the Dengue Eradication Unit of the Ministry, Dr. Prescila Samaraweera said that this decision was taken after the ministry realised that warnings issued on prior occasions were taken lightly by the public.
Dr. Samaraweera said that as a result, inspections would be carried out in this regard in eight districts from July 13 to 15, in eight districts where the highest number of Dengue cases have been reported.
The districts are: Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Kurunegala, Kandy, Galle, Matara and Matale.
