Residents of Bloemendhal, who are on the verge of losing their homes, filed a complaint with the Human Rights Commission. An attempt to remove eleven homes located in close proximity to the Bloemendhal railway line was disrupted when  residents staged a protest on Monday.

Minister of National Co-existence, Dialogue and Official Languages, Mano Ganeshan promised the residents that plots of land will be provided to them before their homes are destroyed. It is in this backdrop that the residents submitted a petition to the Human Rights Commission.

Attorney-at-Law, Sunil Watagala stated that these residents were pulled out by force and thereafter the chairman of the Colombo District Mano Ganeshan had issued a promise.

Meanwhile, leader of the Janasetha Peramuna, Venerable Battaramulle Seelaratane thero arrived in the area on Tuesday to look into the plight of the residents.
