The government sub-committee on economic affairs has recommended that all ground operations at the Bandaranaike International Airport be handed over to Sri Lanka Airport and Aviation Services Limited.
The operations are carried out by Sri Lankan Airlines at present.In its recommendations, the sub committee explained that since the management of SriLankan airlines was commercialised with a partner company, ground level operations at the international the airport should be removed and kept with the government.
The Department of Government Information said that according to the Civil Aviation Act No.14 of 2010, ground level operations should be carried out by a party that has a government shareholding in excess of 51 percent.
Accordingly, the duty of carrying out ground level operations will be handed over to the Airport and Aviation Services Limited.
