The Department of Irrigation stated that there’s a gradual decrease in the flood levels in several areas of Colombo.

The department added that as at 6 a.m. on Sunday the Nagalgamweediya gauge showed the water level at six feet. Accordingly, the water levels in the Kolonnawa and Kaduwela provincial secretariat areas are declining.

Director of the Disaster Management Centre (DMC), Pradeep Kodippili stated that the 243,898 individuals displaced due to floods and landslides are been accommodated at 431 centres.

Seventy three people have died as a result of the landslides and floods. The landslide warning which was issued to seven  districts, is still in place.

The DMC stated that landslide warnings have been issued to the Ratnapura, Kegalle, Matale, Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Kalutara and Badulla districts.
