A special discussion on providing relief to those affected by floods and landslides was held this evening (May 19th) at the President’s official residence.
Saving individuals stranded by the floods, providing food and shelter to those displaced and other welfare activities were broadly discussed during the meeting.
President Maithripala Sirisena also ordered the Navy to increase the number of boats deployed for rescue activities.
The President named Minister Susil Premajayantha as the coordinator of relief activities for Colombo district while instructing Minister SB Dissanayake to aid him in this effort.
President also ordered Disaster Management Centres to set up in each and every district.
