The Sri Lankan Government has received the cooperation of Cuba and El Salvador to curb the chronic kidney disease that is affecting the country.

This was revealed when medical experts from the two countries called on President Maithripala Sirisena on Friday.

Discussions were held between President Maithripala Sirisena and medical experts from Cuba and El Salvador on the launching of a trilateral cooperation for the eradication of chronic Kidney disease of unknown etiology.

During this meeting, experts had stated that Sri Lanka and El Salvador share similar climates, and the rise in numbers of chronic kidney disease patients was the use of chemical fertiliser in both the countries.

Cuban Ambassador Florentino Batista said that Cuba had excluded the use of chemical fertiliser to curb the spread of the chronic kidney disease.
