Leaders express views at funeral of former speaker M.H. Mohamed

The funeral of  late M.H.Mohamed, a former speaker of Parliament took place at the Kuppiyawatte Muslim Burial Grounds in Colombo on Tuesday evening. The remains of the late Al-Haj M.H.Mohamed were placed at his residence located down Bauddhaloka Mawatha in Borella since morning.

The president, the prime minister and many other politicians were among those present to pay their last respects.

Leader of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, Minister Rauff Hakim stated that when they visit the Middle-East they are termed as citizens from the country of M.H. Mohamed as he was a Muslim Leader who was famous far and wide.

UPFA MP, Dinesh Gunawardena stated that he was leader who was brave to meet Rajiv Gandhi and inform him the devastation caused by terrorism to the country.

Leader of the National Unity Front, Azad Sally stated that the highest opinion that can be received by a Muslim is the position of a Speaker. He faced all challenges that came in his way and he always said that he will be doing the right thing.

Minister of National Dialogue, Mano Ganeshan stated that he was the one who laid the foundation for the national government that is present today.

UNP MP, S. M. Marikkar stated that he was an example to all Muslim parliamentarians as he rendered an uncountable service for the unity of Sinhalese and Muslims in the country.
