The Hambantota District Coordinating Committee convened a meeting at the District Secretariat.

The meeting was presided over by the co-chairpersons, State Minister of Fisheries Dilip Wedaarachchi and former speaker Chamal Rajapaksa. Ministers Sajith Premadasa, Mahinda Amaraweera, and Nihal Galappaththi also attended the meeting.

DIG of the Southern Province, Sumith Edirisinghe stated that suspect connected to the murder of Ukkuwa has been arrested.

Meanwhile, questions were raised regarding the merging of three primary schools in Hambantota despite public protest.

Minister of Housing and Construction, Sajith Premadasa noted that the provincial education minister, provincial education secretary, provincial educational Director and other officials need to reach a conclusion by conducting a field inspection.
