Today is day four of Sri Lanka’s largest people-oriented campaign, the News 1st Gammedda Door-to-Door Initiative.
The campaign was launched to identify the hardships faced by individuals in villages in the most rural areas of the nation, and highlight those issues.
The programme organised by News 1st, is supported by the University of Peradeniya.
The News 1st Gammedda Door-to-Door campaign which reaches out to the most rural villages in the Northern, North Western and Uva Provinces commenced its programmes on Saturday morning as well. The News 1st team from the Uva Province commenced today’s journey from the Uma Ela Temple in Bandarawela.
One sub-team set off to the villages of Ambagasduwa,Pannalagama, Kande Ela,Pahala Dawuldena, Miriya Kamatha, Godakubura and Welimada, and inquired into issues faced by the people.
The other sub-team visited the rural villages of Uvapranagama, Dawuldena,Pannala,Lunu Atugama, Ambagaldowa,Medawela and Karagahaulpatha.
The News 1st team in the North Western Province, commenced the door-to- door campaign from the Mahawa Thumbullegama Vidyalaya. One-sub team set off towards Hithokadawela, Weraharayama,Randenigama villages and the locals in the area made an appeal from News 1st.
The other sub-team in the North Western Province reached the villages of Ihalakonwewa, Madiyawa, Rathgallegama and Hithokadawala and inquired in to issues faced by the people.
The News 1st team, which is in the Northern Province, visited villages located in the Mullaitivu, Pudumathalan, Mulliwayikkal, Thumulamune,Kokilai areas
Another sub-team visited the Kokilai-Kokkuthuduwai, Karnatak areas and noted down the issues faced by the people.
Together with the University of Peradeniya, the News 1st Gammedda Door-to Door-campaign will take place until March 18. and will reach out to the most rural places in the country, inquiring into their issues.
