The Leader of the Mahajana Eksath Peramuna, Dinesh Gunawardena, speaking at the M.E.P meeting in Ginigathhena, made a strong statement with regard to the gazette on the Local Government Elections.

The Leader of the Mahajana Eksath Peramuna noted that under the local government laws the Elections Commission is bound to call for the election by March 31, and the Elections Commission does not mean the Elections Commissioner.

He further noted that a Commission was appointed to make more independent decisions and this commission is not bound to follow the orders of the Prime Minister of the Minister.

“We will step put to the streets with hundreds of thousands of people if the Government does not gazette the process of calling for the election by March 31”, warned the Leader of the Mahajana Eksath Peramuna

“It’s been one year and two months. How is the difference? Do you feel good?” questioned UPFA MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage, who went on to note that:

It was said that you cannot eat dhal purchased for Rs.140 during the government of Mahinda, but now it is Rs.240. And it was said you cannot eat rice purchased for Rs.60  and now it is Rs. 100 s and Sprats are Rs. 600 to Rs. 700.

“The stomach feels it a lot”, said the MP Aluthgamage who went on to add that a certified price was given for tea-buds on January 8,and it was Rs.80. And people voted for the swan and fertiliser was to be given at Rs.1300 rupees but what is happening is that the buds are sold at Rs. 45 rupees while fertiliser is sold for Rs.3000.
