President Maithripala Sirisena who is on an official tour to Germany met wit German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Wednesday (Feb 17th).
According to the Presidential Media Unit President Sirisena was welcomed with military honours at the Federal Chancery.
The Presidential Media Unit also noted that this is the first time in 15 years that a Sri Lankan head of state is in Germany to engage in bilateral discussion.
The President and his entourage arrived in Germany on Tuesday, Sri Lankan time, and were welcomed by representatives of the German Government and Officials from the Sri Lankan Mission in Germany.
Upon his arrival to Germany the President toured a number of locations in Berlin.
The President visited the Holocaust Memorial and Museum located close the hotel in which he is staying on Tuesday.
The Holocaust Memorial, is a memorial in Berlin to the Jewish victims of the Holocaust and was constructed in 1998.
