Matthew Abeysinghe breaks Julian Bolling’s record for most gold at SAG

Sri Lankan swimmer Matthew Abeysinghe has broken the record set by Julian Bolling back in 1991 by clinching 7 gold medals at the South Asian Games.

In 1991, Bolling bagged five Gold Medals for Sri Lanka.

Matthew Abheysinghe won two gold medals today in the 400 metres medley and 100 metres freestyle events.

Previously, Matthew earned Sri Lanka its first gold medal in the 2016 South Asian Games in the Men’s 200m Freestyle Swimming event.

He then went on to win it’s second gold in the 100m Butterfly Swimming event as well as the country’s third gold medal in the 100m men’s freestyle relay where he led the team.

He also won gold in the men’s 50m and 100m freestlye events.
