The Government Medical Officers Association or the GMOA says the Ministry of Health, and the government, must be held responsible over the alleged kidney scam taking place in Sri Lanka.

Media Spokesperson for the GMOA, Dr. Navin De Zoysa noted that kidney transplant is a complex process. A certain procedure needs to be followed and the responsibility lies with the goverment and the Ministry of Health. And if the person in question is proven to be a member of the GMOA, the Central Working Committee will appoint a disciplinary committee and take action against him

“We are awaiting the report of the Criminal Investigation Department,” he said further adding that work cannot be carried out based on the paper chits given by certain people and if a media institution makes a claim, it can be responsibly said that this person in question is connected to the kidney racket or not.
