A pharmacist of the Kapugollawa Hospital in Horowpathana, and another individual were arrested over an incident of allegedly prescribing wrong medication for a two-and-a-half-year-old.
The two suspects, who were produced before court, were then released on two surety bails of Rs.100,000 each. They were also ordered to be present before court on January 26.
The victim of the incident, which took place on January 14 when the said child arrived at the Kapugollawa Rural Hospital to receive medication for a common cold, was later supplied with the incorrect medicine.
The child who fell severely ill after taking the incorrectly supplied medicine, is currently receiving treatment at the Anuradhapura Hospital, and is recovering.
