Addressing a gathering during a visit to Puthukkudiyiruppu on the morning of Sunday January 24, President Maithripala Sirisena said he remains committed to solving problems faced by all sections of the population.
A new garment factory was declared open on Sunday morning in the Puthukkudiyiruppu area, under the auspices of President Maithripala Sirisena. Following the opening ceremony, the president met with youth in the area and inquired into the problems they faced.
Speaking to media, the president noted that the drug menace is fast spreading in the north in comparison to other areas in the country, adding that it is worse than “weapons.”
The parents of Sivarajah Jeneepan, who was in prison for an assassination attempt on the life of President Maithripala Sirisena and was later released on a presidential pardon, also met with the president at this occasion and expressed their gratitude.
