Presidential Commission of Inquiry to Investigate and Inquire into Serious Acts of Fraud, Corruption and Abuse of Power, State Resources, and Privileges states that it has received nearly 1,400 complaints.
Speaking to News 1st, Secretary to the Commission Lacille De Silva said 900 complaints had been received by the end of November.
However, he explained that, when taking into consideration the nature of a majority of the complaints received, it was clear that the general public had failed to understand the function of the commission was to investigate cases of large-scale fraud, corruption and abuse of power.
Thus he expressed that, of the 900 complaints received up to November, only around 40 complaints fell under the category of Serious Acts of Fraud, Corruption and Abuse of Power State Resources, and Privileges. He went on to note that the time frame of the commission expires next March.
