Convening a media briefing at the Ministry of Ports and Shipping on Jan. 10, subject minister Arjuna Ranatunga said that they have identified persons who were involved in irregularities said to have taken place at the ministry.

The minister added that the investigations into these matters are being conducted by the Presidential Investigation Unit, FCID and CID.

Moreover, he said, a short report on this from Nalin Ladduwahetty was received and within the next weeks he will submit the main report.

He said however that by handing this report to the president and the prime minister, the law cannot be implemented. Relevant authorities must be allowed to implement the law and therefore this report will be handed over to the FCID, CID and the Presidential Investigative Unit, he said.
