Speaking in Parliament on Wednesday, Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake expressed his views on proposals being put forward on the budget.
UPFA Parliamentarian, Bandula Gunewardena stated that the first part of the budget was passed with a two third majority, and now with the proposals tabled in Parliament by the Prime Minister yesterday, both budget estimates change.
Minister of Finance, Ravi Karunanayake stated:
If MPs bring in proposals which are not extremist in nature, and which will render a service to the country, we will include them. We are prepared to provide answers to the budgets that are prepared by the secretaries.
He added:
This is not a budget made by the president. We have tabled a budget which we could provide answers for; after obtaining the ideas of the MPs here and discussed about it for five months. From what is seen, there is a difference of around 7000 million rupees. On the 19th, we will tell this chamber how we will get this 7000 million.
