A Sri Lankan national who attempted to smuggle foreign currency worth over Rs. 66 million has been arrested by the Customs officers at the Mattala International Airport.

The stash of cash found concealed inside a hidden compartment in his luggage.

Customs Media Spokesperson Leslie Gamini says that this is the first stash of foreign currency that was seized at the Mattala International Airport.

The suspect is a 35-year-old resident of Weligama.
