A former member of the Hettipola Pradeshiya Sabha charges that he was assaulted by a police officer in Bingiriya. While travelling on his motorcycle from Bingiriya to Hettipola on Wednesday afternoon, Former Hettipola Pradeshiya Sabha member Prabhath Nalinda says he was stopped for an inspection in the Bingiriya area.

He had stated that the motorcyclehas been registered and he possesses the license and insurance. He added that thereafter the sergeant had said that those facts are irrelevant and asked him to appear in court on November 6.
