SL clinches third position at Asian Rugby Sevens championship

Sri Lanka clinched third place in the Asian Rugby 7s championship which was held at the Race Course Grounds in Colombo. Sri Lanka set up a cup semi-final clash against Japan after beating South Korea 19 – 12 in the quarter finals.

Playing the Asian rugby giants, Japan were in front 19-7 at lemons. Sri Lanka came back strong in the second half but was just not enough to overcome the Japanese.

The final score of the game was 26 – 19. Sri Lanka thereafter beat Malaysia 45-12 to clinch the 3rd spot.

At lemons, Sri Lanka led 26-0.

Japan emerged Asian Champions beating Hong Kong 29-22 and secured their number one spot in the Asian rankings.
