Due to technology issues hundreds of Southwest Airlines flights were delayed causing massive lines at airports from Los Angeles to Washington D.C.
In a statement posted on the airline’s website, Southwest pleaded with customers to arrive two hours before departure. As of 7:30 p.m. ET, the glitch — which affected the airline’s mobile app, website and reservation centers — had delayed 450 flights out of 3,600, the statement said.
The cause had not yet been determined, the statement added, and airline workers were being forced to manually issue tickets.
In a tweet to one customer asking about a flight out of Oakland, Southwest described the issue as “systemwide.”
We apologize for this morning’s technical issues. We are working to restore service to our Customers, and we appreciate your patience.
