PM comments on Local Govt Elections at Colombo Management Conference

The National Management Conference 2015 titled Good Governance: Challenges and Strategies  was held in Colombo on Tuesday September 29.

Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe commented on the local government elections.

The PM said that the local authorities require members and fresh blood, adding “let the parties contest separately but let us complete this process by March next year.

PM Wikremesinghe also added that in November they will announce the economic policy and the budget.

Meanwhile German Ambassador to Sri Lanka Dr. Jurgen Morhard noted that persuading a good corporate governance is often difficult in undertaking not only here in Sri Lanka, but in most countries around the world, and it always will not be a just or fair process for those under scrutiny.

He went on to note that creating rules and regulations or recommendations is quite easy compared to as a huge task to implement its acceptance or to sustainably cultivate the spirit of good governance.
