Two separate cases, one against the Governor of the Central Bank, his son-in law and the Prime Minister and the other against the Former President and the Former Central Bank Governor, which were taken up before the Colombo Chief Magistrate, were withdrawn today, August 27.
One case, was filed by Former UPFA Provincial Council Minister Renuka Perera against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran and his son-in law with respect to the controversial Central Bank treasury bond issue.
Later another group of lawyers instituted action against former president Mahinda Rajapaksa and Former Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal with regard to the investment of Greek Bonds and the misappropriation of the Employees Provident Fund.
