Major political parties said that suitable people will be appointed to the positions that were made available after several provincial council members were elected into parliament.
Acting Secretary General of the UPFA, Vishwaa Warnapala said that after choosing the candidates based on a voting method, the names will be handed over to the President for approval.
In addition, the Acting Secretary General said that the facts with regard to the chief ministerial posts in West and North Western provinces will be discussed with the president and a decision would be finalised.
Meanwhile, UNP Media Spokesperson Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said that a list of names of those who obtained ministerial positions and a list of suitable candidates to fill the posts of provincial councillors from the UNP will be handed over to the Elections Commissioner next week.
Chief Minister of the Uva Province Harin Fernando said that a decision will be finalised next week with regard to the vacancies that need to be filled after the former provincial councillors were elected into parliament.
