Kaushal Silva scored his 9th test half century today as Sri Lanka scrambled to 140 for the loss of three wickets at stumps on the second day of the second test in reply to India’s first innings score of 393.

India was bowled out for 393 shortly after lunch break. India’s total was built around opener Lokesh Rahul’s second test century and with three other batsmen scoring half-centuries.

Dimuth Karunaratne was out in the second over when he was trapped lbw by fast bowler Umesh Yadav leaving Sri Lanka 1-1. Sangakkara walked in to bat amid a guard of honour from India players and umpires and scored 32 before being caught at slip by Ajinkya Rahane off spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.

Silva scored 51 off 118 deliveries, hitting eight boundaries along with Kumar Sangakkara, who plays his last international, he helped Sri Lanka out of a poor start with a 74-run second wicket stand.

Lahiru Thirimanne was batting on 28 with captain Angelo Mathews on 19 at stumps on Day 2.
