Breaking: SC rules on petition alleging misappropriation of Divi Neguma funds

The Supreme Court has determined that leave to proceed cannot be granted against subject Min. Sajith Premadasa and the cabinet of ministers in the petition alleging misappropriation of funds at the Department of Divi Neguma Development.

The petition was filed by the All Island Development and Agriculture Research Production Assistant Officers Association, its president and secretary. The Supreme Court also refused to grant interim relief sought to suspend the using of funds of the department to provide loans to beneficiaries.

The petition was considered before Chief Justice K. Sri Pavan and Justices Priyasad Depp and Upali Abeyratne. However, the court granted leave to proceed against the first and second respondents, who are the former director generals of the Department of Divi Neguma Devolopment.
