Multiple suicide bombings in North East Nigeria on Thursday and Friday have killed over 60 people
Two suicides bombing have killed at least 12 people in Damaturu, northeast Nigirea. The attackers had struck near a Muslim prayer ground.
Prior to this, at least 48 were killed and dozens more wounded in two simultaneous bombing that hit a market in north eastern Nigeria on Thursday. At least 58 people have be said to be injured with the bombs going off during the busy afternoon.
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack even though Boko Haram, who has previously carried out suicide and bombing attacks, have been waging war in the country for over a decade pushing for a more extremist version of Islamic Law, or Sharia.
The government under president Muhammadu Buhari, took office earlier this year pledging to step up in the fight against the terrorist group has recently said he is open to discussions with the militants at some stage.
