The Sri Lanka Freedom Party Bala Mandala meeting for the Uva Paranagama electorate was held July 8 under the auspices of Opposition Leader, Nimal Siripala De Silva.

The opposition leader noted that at an event with the president last morning, where there were a number of UNP stalwarts present, he was asked whether Mahinda will contest the elections.

He added that he jokingly said he will contest from the Kurunegala district and then asked which district they wanted Mahinda to contest from. He said therefore, by the day-after-tomorrow when nominations are handed over, these UNP-ers will face a more difficult situation.
