Authorities stumble upon new malady with Uswetakeiyawa pain-killer discovery

Two people were arrested in Uswetakeiyawa, Pamunugama for the unauthorised possession of a stock of strong pain killers, during a special operation conducted by the police and the National Drug Regulatory Authority.

They had received information that the said drugs were being abused by addicts as a painkiller. Police said that the suspects had in their possession 2000 painkiller tablets. The suspects aged 54 and 31 are residents of Wattala and Kandepola.

They will be produced before the Wattala magistrate on Wednesday.
