Drama unfolded on Saturday at the Estadio Nacional, in Santiago Chile as the Copa-America drew to a close with the hosts taking on Argentina. The crowd was going berserk with Argentina battling out for their 15th victory and Chilie seeking its first for the fourth time.
Chile’s possession outweighed Argentina 57% to 43% and the slight backward play by Argentina were signs of the Chilean resilience constantly bothering the visitors. The Chilean team showed immense class blocking Argentina from creating space for the front. The match ended in a draw and had to be decided by Penalties
Chile started off with a cannon of a shot by Matías Fernández and it was Lionel Messi who gave hope to Argentina who scored the first and only penalty for them. Chile managed to keep their goals sinking in to the net with Arturo Vidal,Charles Aránguiz and Alexis Sánchez finishing up converting the fourth and final penalty for Chili . Argentina failed perform with Gonzalo Higuaín attempted with a horror of a shot flying away from goal and Éver Banega’s attempt being brilliantly saved by Claudio Bravo leaving the hosts to win the Cup.
