Addressing the occasion of assuming duties as the Deputy Minister of Skills Development and Vocational Training, Minister Piyasena Gamage says those who were appointed as senior ministers have been deprived of the opportunity of serving the public over the recent past.

Deputy Minister Thilanga Sumathipala assumed duties following religious observances on Monday, June 15, morning.

Minister Gamage stated that he used to sit around as a senior minister, adding that Thilanga Sumathipala is a hard working person.

He went on to note that his skills and hard work were not taken into consideration, but that at present, President Sirisena has appointed him to this ministry, which is a great source and strength.

Meanwhile, deputy minister of skills development and vocational training, Thilanga Sumathipala stated that they need to join hands with chairman and launch an islandwide political agenda in order to strengthen the party. He added that President Sirisena has extended his invitation and given them the responsibility to carry out these duties. He went on to note that his appointment was the decision of the voters and showed his gratitude and appreciation towards them.

Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Sanath Jayasuriya assumed duties in his ministerial portfolio on Monday, June 15, morning.

Deputy Minister Jayasuriya stated that Min. Janaka Bandara Tennakoon is the minister for their ministry, and went on to note that all of them will work towards the betterment of the country.
