Former minister Johnston Fernando was arrested on the 5th of May, when he was summoned to the Financial Crimes Investigation Division in order to record a statement regarding financial irregularities in the Lak Sathosa company.
The charges were filed against him in relation to the non-payment for goods worth more than 5 million rupees.
When the bail application of Former Minister Johnston Fernando was taken up at the North western Province High court, his lawyers pointed out that the amount has already been paid. Since the Attorney General too was not opposed to bail being granted, the High Court ordered that Fernando be released on bail.
