Wijedasa Rajapaksha, the Minister of Justice and Labour Relations says that Sri Lanka is the only country that has failed to create a proper education policy. The Minister made this comment during an event held at the Dr.N.M Perera Central College in Yatiyantota.
Speaking at the event the Minister noted that Sri Lanka’s standard of education can be truly judged when conversing with foreign nationals. He noted that schools in the country have been split up into national schools and schools which come under the purview of provincial council, thereby creating a difference in the standards of education.
Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapaksa noted that since gaining independence the administrations that have come into power have been unable to provide one standard of education for all students and concluded that the only way to rectify this is to implement a National education policy.
