The second day of the Sirasa Vesak Zone organised by the Capital Maharaja Organisation Limited, hand in hand with John Keells Holdings PLC will be held on Monday May 4.

The Sirasa Vesak Zone is being held for the fifth time, at the environs of the Head Office of the MTV/MBC Network at Braybrooke Street, Colombo 2.

Devotees have been queuing up since Monday morning to pay homage to the sacred relics placed within special enclosures at the Vesak Kalapaya.

Devotees are provided the opportunity to pay homage to the sacred hair relic of the Lord Buddha and the relics of the Maha Rahath Theros.

Devotees will also be able to pay homage to the sacred relics of Arahants Sariputta and Moggallana, two of the Lord Buddha’s closest disciples.

The Sirasa Vesak Zone also showcases Vesak lanterns, the tele Thorana, as well as Bhakthi Gee performances.

Several dansalas have also been organised for the benefit of the devotees arriving in their numbers to the Sirasa Vesak Zone from across the country.

Devotees can also witness the ‘Sobana Maaligaya’ utilised by Anagarika Dharmapala.

The tele-thorana being displayed at the Sirasa Vesak Zone depicts the Sanjeevaka and Vedamba Jathakas and the story of Sariputta and Moggallana.

Thousands of devotees from all corners of the country visited the Sirasa Vesak Zone on Sunday night and paid homage to the Sacred Relics.
