President Maithripala Sirisena who left for China on Wednesday afternoon on a four-day state visit reached his destination on Wednesday, March 25.
President Maithripala Sirisena’s visit is further to an invitation that was extended by the President of China.
President Sirisena who arrived at the Beijing Airport in China , was welcomed by a group of Chinese delegates including the Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs.
According to the President’s Media Unit the official welcome ceremony will be held on Thursday, March 26, at the Chinese Public Hall under the auspices of the Chinese President Xi Jinping.
This is incidentally the first official tour of President Sirisena to China, subsequent to taking office.
The President, along with many other world leaders, is scheduled to attend the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2015, which will be held in Boao, Hainan Province from Thursday March 26 until the 29.
President Sirisena is scheduled to address the summit on March 28 with regard to Sri Lanka’s development and economic programme.
According to the President’s Media Division, during his stay in China, President Maithripala Sirisena is expected to hold bilateral discussions with his Chinese counterpart as well as the Prime Minister and senior government officials.
President Sirisena is to also hold bilateral discussions with the Executive Committee Chairman of the China National People’s Congress.
