Chief Minister of the North Western Province Dayasiri Jayasekera says that there is a deficit of 6,000 teachers in the province. Speaking to News1st, the Chief Minister said that the previous government had approved the enrollment of new teachers.
He however noted that the present government was yet to make the necessary budgetary allocations for this purpose.The Chief Minister added that a sum Rs. 750 million is required for the salaries for the 6,000 teachers if they are to be enrolled.
