The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has appointed an investigating officer, to probe transactions pertaining to the acquisition of lands from people residing in Slave Island.

The appointment was made in line with a complaint lodged recently.

The complainants claim that the Urban Development Authority had acquired their lands and handed it over to a private company.

They further claim that they have not been provided alternate lands or housing as yet.

The petitioners are calling for a bona fide investigation into irregularities surrounding this project.
