Parliamentarian Tissa Attanayake who was placed under remand custody on charges of forging false documents was granted bail by the Colombo Magistrates Court a short while ago.
The bail was granted on the grounds of insufficient evidence provided by the police through Courts.
Accordingly, Magistrate Thilina Gamage ordered that bail be granted to MP Tissa Attanayake on two sureties amounting to one million rupees each.
The case will be taken up again on March 11.
Meanwhile, Fort Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya granted bail to Former Deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardene. He was granted bail on a cash bail of 150,000 rupees and a surety amounting to 60 million Rupees.
Sarana Gunawardene was arrested on 107 charges filed at the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.
