Executive Director of the Centre for Policy Alternatives Dr.Paikiasothy Saravanamuttu says that it would be an absolute tragedy if legislation is never utilised by the citizenry at large.
He made this observation at a forum in Colombo on Friday evening.
A number of intellectuals organised this forum as a ‘public forum for the strengthening of independent commissions.’
Executive Director of Centre for Policy Alternatives, Dr. Paikiasothy Saravanamuttu said:
Right to information should not be treated as a deal or exchange between government and media. It is fundamental to all citizens. And therefore it would be an absolute tragedy if we get legislation but it is never utilised by the citizenry at large.
