The United People’s Freedom Alliance announced on Thursday that disciplinary action will be taken against its public representatives who render support to change the governance in parliament, provincial councils and local government institutions.

In the communique issued on Thursday, UPFA General Secretary Susil Premajayantha says that information has come light over UPFA public representatives preparing to join other political parties or produce affidavits of support in a bid to change the governance of the respective political institutions.

Premajayantha points out that to do so is a violation of the UPFA’s constitution and policies.

He adds that if legal action is meted out against such practices, the seat of the public representative will be made void.
