President of Russia, Vladimir Putin has congratulated President Maithripala Sirisena on his appointment as the President of Sri Lanka.

The message from the Russian President says:

He confirms Russia’s readiness to work jointly to further develop the fruitful, bilateral cooperation in various areas.

He added that ” this meets the fundamental interests of the people’s of the two countries and is in line with efforts to maintain stability and security in the region”.
