Travel along the upcountry railway line has been restricted upto Bandarawela. Thereby, the Podi Menike carriage and the Udarata Menike carriage will travel until Bandarawela.
The Podi Menike train therefore commenced its journey at 5.55 a.m. on Wednesday morning. The Udarata Menike will commence its journey at 8.30 a.m. The restriction of train travel comes amidst several reports of landslides and rockslides between the Bandarawela and Badulla railway line.
Adding that the railway line has not been fully restored, the Railway Control Room says that it is optimistic that the railway line will be restored over the coming days.
