Over 1300 complaints received: Elections Secretariat

The Elections Secretariat has received 1373 election-related complaints. The Secretariat stated that 177 of these complaints were on serious incidents.

Meanwhile, the police said that 372 complaints were received on election violence. An unidentified group had attacked and damaged two vehicles parked in a residence in Kumbuka, Horana.

Our correspondent said that the damaged vehicles were owned by a member of the Horana Pradeshiya Sabha. Details pertaining to the suspects have not been uncovered as yet.

Meanwhile, a group has fired shots at a house in Aranwala, Beliatta. According to our correspondent, a three wheeler and a house have been damaged in the incident. Another group fired several shots at a house in Bammanna in Pannala.

Residents allege that unidentified motorcyclists have carried out the shooting and later fled the area. Meanwhile, another house in the area had also been shot at by an unidentified group on Tuesday morning. Two persons travelling on a motorcycle were assaulted in Kotuwella, Pannala.

Our correspondent reported that the motorcycle had been dumped into a waterway in the area following the assault on the motorcyclists.
