Police say that they have received 296 complaints pertaining to election law violations and illegal campaigning ahead of the Jan. 8 presidential poll.
The Police Media Unit said that 108 persons have been arrested in connection with the incidents, and legal action has been initiated against these suspects.
Meanwhile, election monitoring group, PAFFREL says that it has received 906 complaints regarding election law violations and illegal campaigning. PAFFREL said that most complaints were received from the Southern Province, numbering 166, while 155 complaints have been lodged from the Western Province and 137 from the Northwestern Province.
