General Secretary of the JHU Patali Champika Ranawaka speaking at a media briefing held on Monday said that they are with the people in this country who face many hardships and the future of the historic national wave.

He went on to note that this journey of the people cannot be stopped by the exhibitionist pageantry of foreign actors and actresses.

We do not engage in the politics of exhibitionism, pageantry and leisure. We are with the people in this country who face many hardships and the future of the historic national wave. We trust these people. We believe that immense destruction had been wrought on this country through destructive development and by hitting the people in their stomachs and burdening them with taxes for petrol, diesel, wheat flour and milk powder. Family livelihoods have been destroyed completely. The people have been made to despair. The people are clamouring for democracy and good governance now. This journey of the people cannot be stopped by the exhibitionist pageantry of foreign actors and actresses. Remember that they are paying for all this using the tax they charge from us on our milk powder and wheat flour.
