Subsequently the President addressed the gathering.
In the Sri Lanka political history election promises are just documents that are forgotten in months. We have proven that the Mahinda Chinthaya is not a mere document that can be forgotten. We do what we say and say what we do. We want to create a public consensus on creating a modern society. Today we are capable of doing so. We cannot go back to an era where the state service is slashed. We cannot put a stop the massive development that we have undertaken. That is my responsibility. Please remember that i have not reached any agreement that will betray the nation. I have not many agreements. I have only one. That is the Mahinda Chinthanaya. The rule of law will be strengthened. Corruption and Fraud will be will not be allowed. My priority is to expand the national development where the Sinhalese, Muslims , Tamils and Burgers will receive the benefits of development and ensure good governance within the institutions. “Mahinda Chinthana-Lowa Dinana Maga”, my third election manifesto aims at this.It will discuss means of reconstructing the constitution. I am ready and committed to enter to a new constitution with the assistance of the Maha Sangha, the Public Representatives, Civil Activists and Trade Union leaders. Will we take a stable nation ahead or not. I am reaching to your hearts to know this
