The Department of Meteorology states that showers or thundershowers are  expected over several parts of the  country due to the prevailing atmospheric disturbance affecting the weather.

Meanwhile, several reservoirs began spilling over on Wednesday. All six spill gates of the Nachchaduwa Reservoir in Anuradhapura were opened by three feet each.

Six spill gates of the Rajanganaya Reservoir were also opened.

Our correspondent also stated that two spillgates of the Angamuwa Reservoir were opened by three feet each.
