The Presidential Media Unit says, SAARC leaders have offered their best wishes for President Rajapaksa’s re-election bid, during bilateral discussions held before the final session of the summit on Thursday.

In a statement issued on Thursday,  the Presidential Media Unit said that when President Mahinda Rajapaksa called on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Indian Premier has said that the whole of India had commended the Sri Lankan President for pardoning the five Indian fishermen on death row.

During the Discussion President Rajapaksa had also requested that the Sri Lankan fishermen imprisoned in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu be released.
