Iconic Formula 1 team Ferrari has announced that they have signed a 3 year deal with 4 times world champion Sebastian Vettle. The announcement came soon after Ferrari announced that they have parted ways with 2 time World Champion Fernando Alonso.
German Sebastian Vettle has described his move to Ferrari as an incredible honor and says he is pleased to follow in the footsteps of his idol Michael Schumacher. Vettle will team up with “Ice man” Kimi Raikkonen for the 2015 season and is expected to earn around 50 Million pounds a year making him the highest paid driver in F1 history.
The German’s move to Ferrari was an open secret since F1 team Red Bull announced that Vettle would be leaving the team this season. Ferrari Team principal Marco Mattiacci is hoping Vettel will be able to reinvigorate his team after such a disappointing season.
Spaniard Fernando Alonso who exits the team of the prancing horse is expected to join McLaren, the team he left in 2007, despite having 2 more years in his contract with Ferrari. Addressing a media briefing in Abu Dhabi ahead of the final race of the season stated that he had begun to think about leaving Ferrari in 2013.
McLaren are yet to announce their 2 drivers for next season as they have yet to reach a decision on who would partner Alonso. Either Jenson Button, who is a former world champion himself, or Kevin Magnussen could be removed from the team to make way for the Spaniard ..
